This product is sold exclusively as a dietary supplement. It is not a medicine. Its use is based on traditional TCM applications.

Main benefits

  • Pattern Identification: Traditionally used for the TCM pattern of Wind-Dampness lodging in the exterior and muscle layer (specifically the Taiyang channel), characterized by a heavy and painful head, stiff neck and shoulders, generalized body aches, joint pain, and a feeling of heavy sluggishness.

  • Core Function: The formula is classically said to dispel Wind, overcome Dampness, release the exterior, unblock the meridians, and alleviate pain.

  • Wind and Dampness Relationship: Based on the TCM principle that Wind is light and moves upward, it carries heavy Dampness into the upper body and muscles where it gets trapped, blocking Qi circulation and causing a signature "heavy, tight" pain.

  • Key Ingredients: Qiang Huo and Du Huo synergistically expel Wind-Dampness and relieve pain in both the upper and lower body; Gao Ben and Chuan Xiong target the Taiyang channels to specifically relieve headaches and neck stiffness; Fang Feng releases Wind from the exterior; Man Jing Zi clears the head and eyes of heavy Dampness; Zhi Gan Cao (Honey-fried Licorice) harmonizes the harsh, dispersing nature of the other herbs; while Corn Starch serves as a modern excipient for pill/tablet binding.

  • Musculoskeletal Component (TCM): Often used for tension headaches, acute torticollis (stiff neck), or rheumatic flare-ups triggered by damp, drafty weather, where the patient feels as though a wet, heavy towel is draped over their head and shoulders.

  • Region of Action: Primarily targets the Taiyang channels, the exterior, the head, the neck, and the shoulders, areas where exogenous Wind-Dampness first lodges and restricts mobility.

  • Classical Heritage: First recorded in the Jin-Yuan dynasty classic Pi Wei Lun (Treatise on the Spleen and Stomach) by Li Dong-Yuan, it is the premier formula for treating exogenous Wind-Dampness trapped in the upper body and muscle layer.

Zhenatura Qiang Huo Sheng Shi Tang Extra Strong is based on the classical Qiang Huo Sheng Shi Tang (“Notopterygium Decoction to Overcome Dampness”), first recorded in the Jin-Yuan dynasty medical text Nei Wai Shang Bian Huo Lun (“Treatise on Clarifying Doubts about Damage from Internal and External Causes”) by the renowned physician Li Dong-yuan. Within traditional Chinese herbal literature, this specific combination of botanicals—including Notopterygium Root, Pubescent Angelica Root, Chinese Lovage Rhizome, Saposhnikovia Root, Honey-prepared Licorice Root, Sichuan Lovage Rhizome, and Vitex Fruit—was described as a method to “dispel Wind,” “overcome Dampness,” and “unblock the meridians” in accordance with the TCM theoretical framework. These descriptions belong exclusively to the traditional conceptual system of Chinese medicine and do not refer to modern anatomy, psychology, or scientifically validated physiological effects.

For Qiang Huo Sheng Shi Tang, take 3 tablets 2 times per day. These should be taken before or after meal.
