Main benefits

  • Pattern Identification: Traditionally used for the TCM pattern of severe Lung and Kidney Yin deficiency complicated by toxic Epidemic Heat (or "Dryness-Heat"), characterized by a chronically swollen, painful, and parched throat, a dry cough with scanty or no sputum (sometimes blood-tinged), a dry mouth, and classically, white diphtheritic patches in the throat.

  • Core Function: The formula is classically said to deeply nourish Yin, moisten the Lungs, clear Heat, resolve Toxicity, and soothe the throat.

  • Yin and Throat Relationship: Based on the TCM principle that the throat is the "gateway" to the Lungs and Kidneys. When intense febrile heat or chronic disease scorches the deep Yin fluids, the throat loses its cooling moisture and becomes highly vulnerable to toxic inflammation. The formula essentially provides a massive wave of cooling hydration to extinguish the smoldering heat in the throat and respiratory tract.

  • Key Ingredients: Sheng Di Huang (Raw Rehmannia) and Xuan Shen (Scrophularia) are the heavy monarch herbs that powerfully nourish deep Kidney Yin, cool the Blood, and resolve toxicity in the throat; Mai Men Dong (Ophiopogon) and Bai Shao (White Peony) moisten the Lungs and preserve fluids; Mu Dan Pi (Moutan) cools the Blood to prevent bleeding; Chuan Bei Mu (Fritillaria) transforms stubborn dry phlegm and stops coughing; Bo He (Peppermint) vents the toxic heat out through the surface; while Gan Cao (Licorice) harmonizes the formula and detoxifies.

  • Respiratory/Immunological Component (TCM): Originally formulated specifically to treat the life-threatening pseudo-membranes of diphtheria, it is widely utilized in modern practice for severe, chronic pharyngitis, acute tonsillitis, lingering dry coughs after respiratory infections, and vocal cord nodules where the throat feels chronically dry, hot, and painful.

  • Region of Action: Primarily targets the Lungs (upper jiao) and Kidneys (lower jiao) to restore the fluid axis, with a highly specific, localized focus on repairing the throat and vocal cords.

  • Classical Heritage: First recorded in the Qing-dynasty text Chong Lou Yu Jian (Jade Key to the Tower) by Zheng Mei-Jian in 1838, it is the absolute standard archetype ("Nourish Yin and Clear the Lungs Decoction") for treating severe, destructive throat inflammation caused by profound Yin depletion.

Zhenatura Yang Yin Qing Fei Tang Extra Strong is based on the classical Yang Yin Qing Fei Tang (“Nourish Yin and Clear the Lungs Decoction”), first recorded in the Qing-dynasty medical text Zhong Lou Yu Yao (“Jade Key to the Secluded Chamber”) by the physician Zheng Mei-jian. Within traditional Chinese herbal literature, this specific combination of botanicals—including Unprepared Rehmannia Root, Scrophularia Root, Ophiopogon Root, White Peony Root, Tree Peony Bark, Fritillaria Bulb, Peppermint, and Licorice Root—was described as a method to “nourish Yin,” “clear Lung Heat,” and “benefit the throat” in accordance with the TCM theoretical framework. These descriptions belong exclusively to the traditional conceptual system of Chinese medicine and do not refer to modern anatomy, psychology, or scientifically validated physiological effects.

For Yang Yin Qing Fei Tang, take 3 tablets 2 times per day. These should be taken before or after meal.
