This product is sold exclusively as a dietary supplement. It is not a medicine. Its use is based on traditional TCM applications.

Main benefits

  • Pattern Identification: Traditionally used for the TCM pattern of Taiyang Wind-Strike (Exterior Deficiency with Wind-Cold), presenting with fever, aversion to wind, headache, and crucially, spontaneous sweating that fails to relieve the condition.

  • Core Function: The formula is classically said to release the exterior muscle layer and harmonize Ying (Nutritive) and Wei (Defensive) Qi.

  • Ying and Wei Relationship: Based on the TCM principle that the Defensive Qi is too weak to protect the exterior and the Nutritive Qi is unable to remain contained, this formula simultaneously supports the outer defense and nourishes the inner fluids to restore systemic balance.

  • Key Ingredients: Gui Zhi (Cinnamon Twig) warms the channels and releases Wind-Cold; Bai Shao (White Peony Root) nourishes Blood and preserves Ying Qi; Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger) assists in releasing the exterior; Da Zao (Jujube) nourishes the Spleen; and Zhi Gan Cao (Prepared Licorice) harmonizes the interactions of all ingredients.

  • Emotional Component (TCM): While primarily for exterior physical conditions, the harmonizing of Ying and Wei deeply regulates the autonomic nervous system, bringing a sense of internal stability and calming the mild restlessness often accompanying a lingering illness.

  • Region of Action: Highly associated with the exterior muscle layer, skin, and pores, as well as the Middle Jiao (Spleen and Stomach), which serves as the root source for generating both Nutritive and Defensive Qi.

  • Classical Heritage: First recorded in the Han-dynasty classic Shang Han Lun (Treatise on Cold Damage) by Zhang Zhongjing, it is famously regarded as the foundational "foremost formula" of the entire text and the archetype for harmonizing therapies.

Zhenatura Gui Zhi Tang Extra Strong is based on the classical Gui Zhi Tang (“Cinnamon Twig Decoction”), first recorded in the Han-dynasty medical text Shang Han Lun (“Treatise on Cold Damage”) by the renowned physician Zhang Zhong-jing. Within traditional Chinese herbal literature, this specific combination of botanicals—including Cinnamon Twig, White Peony Root, Fresh Ginger, Jujube (Chinese Date), and Licorice Root—was described as a method to “release the exterior,” “harmonize Nutritive and Defensive Qi,” and “warm the channels” in accordance with the TCM theoretical framework. These descriptions belong exclusively to the traditional conceptual system of Chinese medicine and do not refer to modern anatomy, psychology, or scientifically validated physiological effects.

For Gui Zhi Tang, take 3 tablets 2 times per day. These should be taken before or after meal.
